Free Whenever’s music sits somewhere in between form (saguna) and formlessness (nirguna).

The band's guiding philosophy and approach to making music is rooted in long-form improvisation resulting in a unique blend of vintage psychedelia, dub, eastern modality, african rhythmic tradition and melodic guitar that leaves listeners high -- fully immersed in a synesthetic sound experience. 

2026 has been the band’s biggest year yet. They played two sets at FloydFest on a bill with My Morning Jacket, Greensky Bluegrass and Railroad Earth, performed at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, opened the main stage at Camp Scampi, and turned in a 75-minute set for a crowd of 500 at Shakori Hills GrassRoots. Along the way they have shared stages with TAUK, Spafford, BALTHVS, Club d’Elf and Karina Rykman, and played Brooklyn Bowl, Sony Hall, Lincoln Hall, Brighton Music Hall, Union Stage and the Axis Club in Toronto.

Live, Free Whenever runs rawer and more psychedelic than the records: the songs are launch points, and the improvisation builds rather than repeats. The audience has grown with them, with streams up fourfold over the past twelve months and 120,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
